Dance Styles

Dance Pointe Studios is going into its 10th year of operation owned by Miss Cassie-Jo Johnston. Cassie previously, had over 9 years experience teaching at Dance North Academy. DPS is pleased to offer diverse dance training for children and young adults.

Classical R.A.D Ballet

Classical ballet is best known for its unique features and techniques such as Posture, Discipline, Turn-out of the legs, High extensions & Pointe work. Classical Ballet is graceful, flowing, has precise movements & is also known for its ethereal qualities. We teach the Royal Academy of Dance syllabus at Dance Pointe Studios. We have 100% pass rate history.

Jazz

Jazz dance is frequently influenced by other dance styles such as Classical Ballet, Contemporary, Lyrical, and Hip-Hop. As in most forms of dance, technique is the foundation for all jazz dance movement. Jazz is upbeat, exciting & lots of Fun. Dancers who have mastered jazz dance technique are free to focus on the stylistic and performance aspects of dance.

Hip Hop

Hip Hop is a street style form of dance which is free, funky and soulful. Hip Hop is a trendy expression of movement to the latest R&B music.

Lyrical

Lyrical dance is a dance style that combines elements of ballet & modern dance styles. It is usually set to popular music with vocals or just instrumental bars. The goal of a lyrical dancer is to use gesture, facial expression, and controlled movements in order to execute their movements and emotions fully. Besides emotional connection to music, lyrical dance typically encourages use of articulation, line, weight, and movement qualities.

Modern / Contemporary

Contemporary dance draws on modern dance techniques as well as newer philosophies of movement that depart from classical dance techniques by altogether omitting structured form and movement.

Baby Ballet

Baby Ballet is a fun, structured classical ballet class for children aged 2 1/2 and above. We cover the basics of classical ballet including mime, free movement and dance with the use of props. A great way to introduce your child to classical ballet.
